RANNA
ALSO A RESEARCH WRITER

As well as being a prolific exhibiting artist, Ranna Lachlan (formerly Hale) has undertaken rigorous written research on a variety of topics. Change of name by marriage from "Hale" to "Lachlan" has resulted in some databases not reflecting the extent of Ranna's output as a writer. The following are some titles that are part of Ranna Lachlan's (formerly Hale's) work.

Lachlan, R.-L. (1998), "Gay Hawkes in North Queensland", Art Monthly, November, pp. 5-7.

Lachlan, R.-L. (1996), "Famine, Glut and Gorge: Plenty in Townsville", an exhibition critique for Perc Tucker Gallery.

Lachlan, R.-L. (1996), "Foreign Artists, The Goodwill Factor, and a Model for Transcultural Arts Practice", Conference on Artistic and Cultural Expressions, Traditional Knowledge, and Protection of Heritage, University of Queensland, 27-29 September, 1996.

Lachlan, R.-L. (1995), Transcultural Synaesthesia: Visual and Musical Experiment Across Cultural and Sensory Planes, PhD Thesis, James Cook University of North Queensland, Townsville.

Copy held at James Cook University Library and in the artist's personal holdings.

Hale, Ranna. (now Lachlan). (1989), Painted Designs of Rainforest Aboriginal Shields from North Queensland: An Analysis of Correlation Between Design Styles and Geographical Distribution, Material Anthropology Thesis, James Cook University of North Queensland, Townsville.

Copies held at James Cook UniversityLibrary, Department of Anthropology of JCU, Queensland Museum Library, Australian Museum Library, and in the artist's personal holdings.
